Immigration Options<<Back Business VisasTEMPORARY BUSINESS These type of visas assist business people to relocate to Australia (Subclass 160 - Provisional Business) and for businesses to sponsor skilled workers to Australia (Subclass 457 – Business Long Stay), on a temporary basis. Provisional Business On 1 March 2003, this visa category replaced Subclass 457 – Independent Executive. There are the independent stream and the state-sponsored stream. The requirements are quite stringent and the independent stream has an age limit of 45 years old. The requirements are very similar to the old Business Migration program requiring proof of business attributes such as, annual turnover of business, business assets, personal assets and English Language Ability. Financial statements for 2 out of the last 4 years must be submitted. The state sponsored stream requires presenting a business plan to the appropriate state government authority for approval . State-sponsor allows the waiver of the age and English Language Ability requirements and a reduction in the required amounts for annual turnover and assets. After 4 years of temporary residence, an application can be made for permanent residence. Temporary Business Sponsorship This visa category allows businesses to sponsor skilled workers to Australia on a temporary basis. There is a gazetted minimum salary of approximately $37,000. This can only be waived if the appropriate Regional Authority signs the sponsorship form. The sponsoring business needs to prove at least one of the following benefits upon employing a non-Australian skilled worker: - 1. Maintain or create employment opportunities for Australians; 2. Increase Australian trade in goods and services; 3. Import new and improved technology; or 4. Increase competitiveness within the sector of the Australian economy. The sponsoring business will have to prove that it is a valid business and able to pay the skilled worker by providing financial and bank statements. The visa applicant will need to prove that he/she has the appropriate skills to fill the position. This application can be done on or offshore. <<Back
